The Advent Wreath is the widely commonly accepted symbol of advent. It is made from a circle of evergreen branches which are laid flat to represent the everlasting nature of God’s love for his people. 4 candles stand in the circle. By tradition 3 of the candles are purple, and the 4th is pink and is known as the ‘joy’ candle. Blue candles may also be used to highlight our hope in God’s promise which is fulfilled in the Nativity. One candle is lit during the 1st week of Advent. 2 during the 2nd week, 3 during the 3rd and 4 during the 4th week. The candles remind us of the light of God coming into the world. The light from the candles grows brighter as each week comes closer to Christmas.

Suddenly many other angels came down from heaven and joined in praising God.

They said “Praise God in heaven! Peace on earth to everyone who pleases God.”

Tonight I am going with the church and youth group to sing Christmas Carols
