Christmas Time Countdown – 13 days til Christmas

Today was the last day of playgroup. This maybe the last day of this playgroup actually existing too. Which is a shame as I think it is a very good playgroup. The lady who has been running it wants to spend more time studying. She started it when her daughter was a little girl eight years ago. Now both of her children are at school. She has called for volunteers to take over. Sadly no one has stepped forward. I may have considered it however, God willing I will working at the beginning of February.

Anyway today was good. We played. Daniel spent heaps of time driving the car backwards. We had the usual story (except it was the story of Baby Jesus and his birth this week) and singing. Then I presented the lady who runs it a thank you gift that I got for her earlier in the week and asked that everyone sign the card. Then we got a very special visitor. The man in the red suit. The kids got a gift from him. Daniel took it all his stride (which was a surprise considering it was his first time meeting the jolly man) and much better than another wee one who is just a month younger than him. Then the lady who runs the playgroup gave the children a gift from playgroup and the members of the committee (me included) got a thank you gift. Then it was time for the very yummy Christmasy morning tea.

Is it common for young children Daniel’s age NOT to like strawberries? Daniel doesnt and neither does the little boy who cried upon meeting Santa (which I mentioned above). Then it was time for a bit more play before pack up time.

There will be a photo of Daniel on Santa’s knee at some stage. I did take my camera but it failed to work. The lady who ran the playgroup did take photos.

They hurried off and found Mary and Joseph, and they saw the baby lying on a bed of hay. When the shepherds saw Jesus, they told his parents what the angel had said about him. Everyone listened and was surprised. But Mary kept thinking about all this and wondering what it meant. As the shepherds returned to their sheep, they were praising God and saying wondering things about him. Everything they had seen and heard was just as the angel had said.

One of my favourite Christmas carols

  1. Sounds like a great last day at the playgroup. I’m worried about Logan meeting Santa this year – he did fine last year but he was only 5 months old then. This time, I have a feeling, will be very different!

Logan loves strawberries but he’s becoming more and more picky about what he eats. He doesn’t enjoy cantaloupe anymore (this summer he would have eaten it until he exploded!). Could they maybe be too tart for his liking? Hope you have a wondeful day 🙂

  2. I wouldn’t worry too much if he doesn’t like strawberries, only one of my three children loves them, Kids have different tastes in food, as long as he’s not a picky eater then you should be fine. Maybe you could offer them again to him every now and again just in case he changes his mind?
