Yesterday afternoon we went to a friend of Muzz’s who is over from Australia for lunch. It was yummy salads, potatoes, assorted meats, prawns, cauli and broccoli. He works in a radio station over there so hes always very interesting to talk to. His brother, his sister-in-law, their son and 8 week old daughter came over too. It was real nice meeting them. It was also very hot. Afterwards we drove around the corner and looked at where some friends of ours are building their new house.

After a good afternoon sleep Daniel tried out his paddling pool.

He splashed and splashed and splashed.

Today Im concentrating on doing the washing as Billy is going away on holiday tomorrow. win-26.jpgAnd the biggest problem with that is my washing machine is a bit sick. It tends to get stuck half way through the cycles. Then i have to go and reset it. I think its do with the washing machines programming having gotten old or something.

Daniel slept a lot today think hes catching up from the last few days. Muzz got called out on a job and Billy has gone to the movies with some friends.

When Daddy got home he had something for Daniel. He got it from his client who didnt want it anymore. Daniel loved it. He really wanted to help Muzz set it up but they didnt work very well. So we watched with Daniel letting me know what he really wanted to do. Then he enjoyed opening and shutting the desk lid over and over again LOL. Muzz showed him how it could have books in it and read him some of the stories too. Muzz is such a good daddy and Daniel loved his new desk. daniels-new-desk.jpgdaniels-new-desk1.jpgdaniels-new-desk2.jpg

On the 2nd day of Christmas my true love gave to me . . .

2 Turtle Doves

or in other words

The old and new testaments

turtle-doves.jpg day-2.jpg

On Christmas Eve at 4pm we went to church to the children’s Christmas Eve service. It was short and good. Afterwards much to the boys delight and Muzz’s horror (they ate them in his car) they had cupcakes.

Yesterday morning (Christmas Day) I was the 1st one awake Billy came for a hug after a while. Hes got so tall. I told him so and that one day he would look down on me and he said “Yep, and then Ill be able to call you a shrimp!” LOL

As we had to go out later in the morning I woke Daniel. He wasnt grumpy or crying but he wasnt exactly impressed but as long as he had his bottle he was ok. He hasnt got the fact that one can rip into open ones presents so he observed really but he was happy as long as he had his bottle 🙂

as-long-as.jpg as-long-as1.jpg

After we had opened the presents we went to Muzz’s sister’s house for bbq breakie this is beginning to become a tradition. Most of the family were there. We went last year when Daniel was just a month and a half old. Its amazing the difference in him when reflecting upon last year and this from a wee defenceless babe to a active wee boy.

After breakie we went to Muzz’s parents for a while. Then we came home and spent a quiet family day at home. I needed that. Its been a rough year and I wanted a quiet, family Christmas.

This year for the 1st time I cooked Christmas dinner. We had roast chicken, apple sauce, baby potatoes, coleslaw, 2 types of cheese, lettuce, Chippies, lollies with a gluten free (Muzz is celiac) Christmas cake (I put some candles in to remember the real reason for the season), meringues and raspberries with ice-cream for pudding.

When I was decorating the table Billy came along and said to me “Hey!” Jingle Bells do you need any here” he keeps us laughing. I for one need that after the year we have had. He also told us how grateful he is for everything we do this Christmas. Muzz bless him said it was one of the best Christmas dinners hes had in a while.

maids.jpgToday is Boxing Day oliver-twist-0540.jpg

In England, Canada, New Zealand, Australia and some other countries.  The origins of this day are unknown, but it is believed that Christmas gift boxes were given to servants on this day whom had to work on Christmas Day.  The servants were permitted the day after Christmas off, for their own celebrations.  Boxing day gift giving was later extended to include tradespeople and people who provided services during the year.

Another theroy is that the boxes were placed in Churches so parishioners could deposit coins in them for the poor, they were opened on this day and given to them.

Boxing Day began in the Middle Ages in England.

Merry Christmas Everyone Happy Birthday Jesus

and to my 2 South African readers

Geseende Kerfees en ‘n gelukkige nuwe jarr

and to my 1 reader in the Philippines

Maligayang Pasco at ManigongBangong Taon

The greatest joy of all, is knowing that the Lord really and truly loves you and that you “are” special to him. The Lord loves you more than you can ever realize
Be blessed this Christmas and all year too

tree2.jpgclick on the picture its really quite clever and very true

On Eph28:10 we are sharing our nativity scene so here is mine

Memorable Christmas Days of the Past

In 336 the first recorded celebration of Christmas was held in Rome. Church fathers elected this day to be Jesus’ offical birthday. From 336 on a Holy mass – “Christ’s Mass”as to be observed.

In 1888 “Silent Night” was perfromed for the first time, at the Church of St Nikolans in Austria.

In 1914 during World War 1 Allied and German troops observed an unoffical truce, even playing football together on the Western Front’s “no man’s land.”

In my post dated the 5th of December I discussed where the 12 days of Christmas came from and I have decided that for the next 12 days I would mark this special time on my blog. I am not Catholic but I do like the real meaning behind this song. I didnt know what they were until then.

On the 1st day of Christmas my true love gave to me. . .

A partridge in a pear tree

or in other words

Jesus Christ the son of God

whose birthday we celebrate today in the song Christ is metaphorically presented as a mother partridge that pretends to be injured to lure predators away from her vulnerable chicks, reminding us of when Christ considered sadly the fate of Jerusalem: “Jerusalem! Jerusalem! I have often wanted to gather your people, as a hen gathers her chicks under her wings. But you wouldnt let me” (Luke 13:34)

Just as the the mother partridge would die for her chicks so Jesus was willing to die for us.

The tree is the representation of the fall of the human race through the sin of Adam and Eve. It is symbolizes the redemption by Jesus on the Cross.

Christmas Time Countdown – 1 days til Christmas

Filed under: Christmas time countdown — jenz @ 10:10 am

nazarene.jpgMatthew 2:19-23nazarene.jpg

After King Herod died, an angel from the Lord appeared in a dream to Joseph while he was still in Egypt. The angel said, “Get up and take the child and his mother back to Israel. The people who wanted to kill him are now dead.” Joseph got up and left with them for Israel. But when he heard that Herod’s son Archelaus was now ruler of Judea, he was afraid to go there. Then in a dream he was told to go to Galilee, and they went to live there in the town of Nazareth. So the Lord’s promise came true, just as the prophet had said, “He will be called a Nazarene.”

Christmas Time Countdown – 2 days til Christmas

A Christmas Prayer by Robert Louis Stevenson

killing.jpgMatthew 2:16 – 18killing.jpg

When Herod found out that the wise men from the east had tricked him, he was very angry. He gave orders for his men to kill all the boys who lived in or near Bethlehem and were 2 years and younger. This was based on what he had learned from the Wise men. So the Lord’s promise came true, just as the prophet Jeremiah had said, “In Ramah a voice was heard crying and weeping loudly. Rachel was mourning for her children, and she refused to be comforted, because they were dead.”

One more thing yesterday I discovered that Daniel has 8 teeth!!!!

Didnt realize he had so many

Wondering when that happened

Christmas Time Countdown – 3 days til Christmas

loc2s.jpgMatthew 2:14 and 15loc2s.jpg

That night, Joseph got up and took his wife and the child to Egypt, where they stayed until Herod died. So the Lord’s promise came true, just as the prophet had said, “I called my son out of Egypt.”

Im home again. Im glad to be back where I belong with my boys all 3 of them {including Muzz :)}. I stayed with a lovely lady and her family up in Auckland. I had to attend family business which I cant go into except to say its sorted and I can move on.

On the way home I texted my sister and as we drove right by her home I organised a “drive by” where we all waved to each other. Them from their back gate me from the bus. It was awesome! Im still smiling as I type/word process this. It made my day, my trip. It was a long journey which left my back sore and the family bushiness was not pleasant. Other things made the trip bearable were that I came home in a comfy double decker bus. Im not sure if Ive been on one before and if I have then it must have been when I was a girl. Also the lady I stayed with took me out to lunch. Thanks my friend. Love you and your family. I also was able to finally buy Billy’s Chrissie present. BTW I missed blogging. Its good to be home.

POST DATED Christmas Time Countdown – 5 days til Christmas – 20th December

Filed under: Christmas time countdown,Home and Family — jenz @ 4:30 pm

As you know I am in Auckland at the moment. Today the 20th will be the hardest day I would appreciate your prayers especially today.

homcomary.JPGMatthew 2:9-12 homcomary.JPG

The wise men listened to what the king said and then left. And the star they had seen in the east went on ahead of them until it stopped over the place where the child was. They were thrilled and excited to see the star. When the men went into the house and saw the child with Mary, his mother, they knelt down and worshipped him. They took out their gifts of gold, frankincense and myrrh and gave them to him. Later they were warned in a dream not to return to Herod, and they went back home by another road.
